Rap icon Kanye West has been cleared of battery charges relating to a scuffle with photographers.
The paparazzi are possibly the most controversial figures in the media world. Paid to follow celebrities around, the photographers fight amongst themselves and, occasionally, with the people they are pursuing.
On September 11th 2008 Kanye West was attempting to leave an airport in Los Angeles when he was approached by photographers. A scuffle broke out in which one lens man had his camera smashed.
Taken to court, Kanye West was charged with vandalism, battery and grand theft alongside his manager Don Crowley. However the judge presiding over the case agreed to dismiss the case if the pair could show proof that they had performed 50 hours of community service.
In addition to this the pair were to take an anger management class. On Friday (January 29th) the case was closed after the rapper’s lawyer, Blair Berk, and Crowley’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, showed proof that both men had worked for 50 hours at the Red Cross, reports TMZ.
Meanwhile, Kanye West has returned to blogging after a self-imposed silence following ‘the Taylor Swift Incident’. Posting a picture of himself with his girlfriend Amber Rose the rapper said:
“WHEN IT’S ALL SAID AND DONE, REMEMBER THE FEARLESS, REMEMBER THE DREAMERS, REMEMBER THOSE WHO REPRESENT THE GHETTO…THE FAIRY TALE OF NOTHING TO SOMETHING. I’M BRIEFLY SADDENED BY NEGATIVE COMMENTS, BUT I HAVE TO REMEMBER THOSE PEOPLE ARE SCARED, INCAPABLE OR JUST PLAIN IDIOTS. WE ARE THE FUCKING ROCK STARS BABY. NO COCAINE, JUST LIFE MY NIGGAS!! NO COCAINE, JUST LIFE!”
